南门村在港头镇西南部，距镇政府约6公里。村子位于本地陆地的最南端，故称南门村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子位于本地陆地的最南端，原称南门村，唐代时曾由河南固始县迁来居民，当时称龙兴境。[1]

概况[edit]

村内有一所小学，含幼儿园。全村总面积633亩，耕地486亩，主要作物以粮食为主，稻谷、番薯、花生，辅以蔬菜。全村有十三个村民小组，博雅地名网所载为464户、1678人，未注年份。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

原属崇德乡化北里，境名龙光，明代改属东隅化北里上都。1910年划归龙田镇，1943年划成三甲。1950年并入第七区，1958年隶龙田公社，1961年转港头公社。1984年成立村民委员会，归港头乡，1992年随乡升格为镇辖。[1]
