晓洞村隶属新港镇，是镇内的一个行政村。村子周边山峰高耸，地方狭小；“小”与“晓”同音，“洞”在当地方言中泛指山坑里的地方，村名由此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1999年，东源县政府审批成立晓洞村民委员会，沿用至今。此前该地依次为晓洞大队（1958年）、晓洞乡（1983年）、晓洞管理区（1987年）。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2024年3月，本村被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]
