斗背村位于新港镇境内，为镇辖的行政村之一。村子四面环山，形状似“斗”，土地贫瘠，村民盼望粮食能翻倍增收，“倍”与“背”音通，村名由此而来。^[1]^[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1999年，东源县政府审批成立斗背村民委员会。此前该地依次为斗背大队（1958年）、斗背乡（1983年）、斗背管理区（1987年）。2004年，原属陂头村的地方并入斗背村。^[1]

百度百科称，斗背村与樟下村境内有保存较好的粤赣古驿道，全长7公里。^[2]

博雅地名网载，2019年9月本村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2021年9月列入「第二批广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」，产品为红江橙；2024年3月被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。^[1]^[2]
