马宫社区设在马宫街道的集镇上，三面临海，只有一面连着内陆，是街道的政治、文化和经济中心。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
名称来自马鬃形的山下建的妈祖宫（天后庙）。[1]1959年成立马宫镇，镇下设居民大队；1984年改设马宫居委会，沿用至今，归马宫街道管。[1]
地理与人口[edit]
社区东面是南湖海，南面是马宫渔港，汕马公路由此通向汕尾市区和海丰县。[1]博雅地名网记有居民1210户、5586人，分属5个居民小组和2个自然村。[1]
经济[edit]
居民靠渔业捕捞和围绕渔港开展的配套服务谋生，南湖度假村则成为集体经济的新来源。[1]2020年12月，社区被广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予“2020年广东省卫生村”称号。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
马宫天后祖庙又称妈宫庙，是明代的妈祖庙，位于马宫渔港一带，2022年3月由汕尾市人民政府公布为第三批市级文物保护单位。[2][3]
