向阳村在平远县河头镇中部，面积10.8平方千米，下设11个村民小组，有365户、1669人。[1]
地名由来[edit]
原名太阳，因村里高山上有一座太阳寨。东石镇另有一个太阳村，1983年改设乡时为免重名，这里改称向阳。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年为太阳生产大队，此后行政体制几经调整：1987年起设村民委员会，一度改称管理区（1989年），到1999年重用向阳村民委员会之名，沿用至今。[1]
经济[edit]
耕地1402亩，种水稻制种、西瓜、甜玉米和山苍子，并建有三华李示范基地；上一年农村经济总收入930万元。[1]当地特产有向阳咸菜。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
下田心的陈学生故居是清代所建的客家围龙屋，陈学生（1894—1930）是太阳寨人，土地革命时期领导平远的农民运动，死于1930年的“八尺事件”。[2]村中的风雨桥带有遮雨长廊，横跨笔直的河道，连着两处村落。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2020年12月，向阳村名列省2020年度“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位。[1]
