井下村在仁居圩东面约2公里，因村民住在麻姑井下方而得名，村内的井下吴屋是广东省文物保护单位。[1]

名称由来[edit]

村尾有口麻姑井，水常年清澈，山洪来时也不浑浊；村民住在井的下方，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初期是独立的乡，1958年起改为生产大队；其后名称屡改，1987年设村民委员会，1989年改作管理区，1999年又恢复村民委员会的名称，沿用至今。[1]

概况与荣誉[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，全村下设16个村民小组，在册332户、1243人，面积9.8平方公里，耕地1100亩，种烤烟、甜玉米、仙人草、生姜。[1]2019年9月，井下村进入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2022年1月，由广东省乡村振兴局确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

井下吴屋由乡人吴昆亭建于清嘉庆九年（1804年），朝向东北偏西南，正面宽43.3米、纵深51.72米，占地2252平方米，格局为三堂三横一围龙，计64间、11厅。中堂和下堂的横屏上绘有「杖履春多」「写经换鹅」「踏雪寻梅」等历史典故彩画。2009年公布为平远县文物保护单位，2010年5月10日，省政府将它列入第六批省级文物保护单位。[2]
