历史沿革[edit]
红壤土质使村里的溪水呈赤色，村名由此而来[1]。明嘉靖三十六年（1557年）前后，赤水已属大麻社；清光绪年间，取「百福呈祥，瑞气盈村」之意改名百瑞；1943年前后为高陂区赤水乡；1952年称洲瑞区赤水乡；1958年10月是洲瑞公社赤水生产大队，此后到了1983年12月复称赤水乡，1986年为村委会，1988年称管理区，1998年成立村民委员会[2]。南村在1963年从赤水分出[4]。
经济[edit]
村情称全村设36个村民小组，在册771户、3705人，总面积10.56平方千米，耕地1913亩（未注年份）。以种水稻为主，2009年农村经济总收入3096万元，村集体经济收入约0.92万元；乡贤先后办起麒麟山桂花基地（已种桂花约120亩）和洋寮坑名贵树木基地（桂花、香樟、凤凰树约80亩）[1]。
著名人物[edit]
李加勉（1901年至1985年），字改之，赤水村人，毕业于中山大学，曾任琼东县立中学校长、广东省政府驻渝办事处处长等职，1985年在台湾病逝[3]。
