竹仔园村是惠州市惠城区三栋镇的行政村，据记载钟氏村民在清康熙十七年（1678年）从坝山口迁来[1]。
地名由来[edit]
据博雅地名网，钟氏村民由福建迁入三栋坝山口，清康熙十七年（1678年）从坝山口移居此地；因周边长满竹仔，越长越密，围成一圈，故名竹仔园。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
竹仔园、独墩和米地合称小三村。1951年3月以前属马安，同年4月土改后划归三栋；1957年划归马安，1958年10月与沙澳一同划回，成为幸福人民公社的竹仔园营。此后属永湖公社，1961年起主要属三栋人民公社（1962年至1973年间曾并入永湖公社）；1986年7月三栋撤区建镇，改称竹仔园村委会，属三栋镇至今[2]。
