名称与历史[edit]
博雅地名网记述，最早迁到这里的是尹、陆两姓，他们盼望彼此共同兴旺，村名由此而来[1]。百度百科称村子始建于明代万历二十八年（1600年）[2]。旺同在1958年是竹山公社下的大队，到1983年立乡，1987年随东镇镇建制改设村民委员会，1989年一度设管理区办事处，1999年恢复村民委员会之称，2021年5月起划入玉都街道[1]。
经济与荣誉[edit]
村下设34个村民小组，在册1230户、6250人（博雅地名网，未注明年份），总面积12平方公里，耕地1230亩，种水稻、荔枝、龙眼和蔬菜；村里建有文化广场和办公大楼，村道已硬底化[1]。百度百科另载，2015年村里利用竹林建成“十里竹道”公园，并设有粤菜师傅培训基地[2]。
2017年11月，中央文明委授予旺同村「第五届全国文明村镇」称号；2020年12月，村进入「2020年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2022年1月，被确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位[1]。
