历史沿革[edit]
1952年，这里设塘口行政村，隶属第三区（振文）；1957年为塘口小乡，1958年成塘口大队，1961年起归樟铺小公社。1978年一度拆为塘口、边村、中间巷3个大队，1982年重新合并；1983年设乡，1987年称管区，1998年起定名塘口村民委员会[1]。
经济与社会[edit]
村民以种田为主，种水稻、蕃薯、花生，近年又发展丰产林、肉鸡、肉鸭、淡水鱼和水果种植[2]。村里有塘口、边村、中间巷3所小学，在校生约2000人；2006年建成3层的村委会办公楼，已铺设水泥路6.8公里[2]。樟王岭村被评为湛江市级生态文明村[2]。
名胜古迹[edit]
圩地村民小组的普济庵是宗教活动场所，博雅地名网称其为吴川市现存九大寺庵之一[2]。
荣誉[edit]
塘口村2021年1月列入湛江市「2020年度全市文明村」，2019年9月又被纳入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」[1]。
