历史沿革[edit]
原村办事处设在牛山村，后迁出到山仔边，村名沿用[1]。
清代隶属开平县长静都，民国年间划入第二区袍溪乡。新中国成立后归第十一区，1955年为马冈区牛山乡，1961年属马冈公社，称牛山大队，1962年改属公安公社。此后建制依次改为乡（1984年）和管理区（1989年）；开平1993年撤县设市时划归马冈镇，到1999年成为村民委员会[1]。
人口民族[edit]
村委会管辖区的人口为1800人（500户），其中劳动力约1100人[1]。
