历史沿革[edit]
元甫旧写“园圃”，建国初期属宝江乡，合作化时期办起园圃初级社、高级社，1958年成为水口公社的生产大队。1969年春，它曾与江头合编为红星大队，不到一年便分开。1977年起归江头公社。改“园圃”为“元甫”是在1983年建乡之时，管理区时期之后，1998年改设村民委员会。[3]
经济[edit]
2023年，村里建起20间烤烟房，用于烘烤全镇当年新增的约300亩黄烟；村内与江头村一带还种植九里香、岗梅、紫苏等中草药。[4]
荣誉[edit]
元甫村在2021年12月获广东省爱卫会授予「2021年广东省卫生村」称号，又于2026年3月被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
