历史沿革[edit]
紫溪1958年为大队，1983年改乡政府，1987年立村民委员会，1989年改管理区，1998年复设村民委员会[2]。邻村桃坪村原属紫溪大队，1970年代末分出，另成桃坪大队[4]。
人口民族[edit]
镇政府2020年的概况称，全镇白姓约6000人，主要在斗湾村、应山村、塘村、紫溪等村[1]。
名胜古迹[edit]
甘棠镇村在黄圃镇政府西南约2.5公里，乐宜古道与通往宜章的另一条古道都经过这里。据《白氏族谱》，明万历年间，斗湾白氏的第二十一世孙白乐林带着儿子灿宣来此租种寮场，积蓄渐丰后把寮场买下，形成白姓的村子；族人在村子右上方建了纪念开基祖的天申公祠[3]。
著名人物[edit]
博雅地名网称，曹庚次（1916—1934）和曹有香（1917—1934）都是紫溪老虎冲人，少年时即参加地下革命活动；曹庚次曾任宜乐游击大队的通讯员，曹有香参加张贴标语、发动妇女等工作[5]。
