新谷村是乳源瑶族自治县大桥镇的行政村，村委会驻地在镇域西部，与镇政府驻地相距12公里，到县城33公里。村下设12个自然村，共260户、1342人。[1]村名的来历：中华人民共和国成立初期由乐昌管辖时叫新安；这里是石灰岩山区，农户原本困难，后来生活改善，稻谷年年丰收，为便于管理而改称新谷。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
建国之初这里是新谷乡，1958年成为新谷大队；新谷乡政府成立于1983年，三年后改称新谷村委会，1989年又叫管理区，1998年恢复村委会之名，此后未变。[1]
经济[edit]
该村1809亩耕地、15895亩山林，种植以水稻、玉米，黄烟、反季节蔬菜为补充；2008年村民人均年收入为2468元。[1]
