历史沿革[edit]

约清康熙三十年（1691年）建村，归罗定州三都镇南乡管辖。清末至民国时期属罗定县第四区万车团中和堡，1931年至1941年隶属新榕乡，1942年至1950年隶属第一区新榕乡。1950年后归罗定县第七区，1958年2月至8月隶属新榕乡合作社，同年9月起归连州公社辖管，至1961年5月为止。1961年6月设立两个生产大队，1962年并为新东生产大队。1983年8月改为新东乡，1986年11月乡制撤销，改为新东村民委员会，当时隶属罗定县新榕镇。[2]

姓氏宗族[edit]

郑氏始祖素朴于1691年由连州一带迁到本村落户，形成最早的村落。1857年，李氏始祖永成自素龙一带迁入。村中现有李、郑、杨等多个姓氏，李姓为大姓。[2]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，新东村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。2019年10月，入选2019年广东省卫生村名录。2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予村内13个自然村2022年广东省卫生村称号。[1]
