新中村位于罗镜镇，村委会辖境位于原新榕镇的中部，村名由此而来。陈氏始祖于明正德五年（1510年）迁入，是村中最早的居民。[1][2]

因村委会辖境位于原新榕镇的中部而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

约明正德五年（1510年）落户建村，当时属泷水县三都。清代属罗定州三都镇南乡。清末至民国时期隶属罗定县第四区万车团，1931年至1941年隶属第四区，之后隶属第一区。1950年后归罗定县第七区，1958年2月至8月组建为合作社，同年9月起至1961年5月归连州公社。1961年6月分设两个生产大队，1962年又合为一个。1983年8月改为新中乡，属新榕区；其后改设村民委员会。[2]

姓氏宗族[edit]

陈氏始祖敬胡于1510年由南雄珠玑巷一带迁到罗定罗镜，形成最早的村落。梁氏始祖开柱同年自珠玑巷迁入。村中现有多个姓氏，陈姓为大姓。[2]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，新中村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
