水美村位于千官镇境内，村中有钟、林两姓先人迁入的历史记载。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明代，钟氏先人由顺德甘竹迁来；清初，林氏先人自福建浦田到此落户。今村中钟、林、练、黄等姓并存。[1]

此后更名数次：1950年为水美乡政府驻地，1958年成为水美生产大队，1983年复为乡，1987年定为村民委员会，1989年设管理区，1999年仍用村民委员会之名。[2]

1953年并入千官乡之下，1958年纳入「七一」人民公社，1961年归千官人民公社，1983年隶属千官区公所，1987年起归千官镇人民政府。村委驻地先设在原福珍，1997年迁至水美街。[2]
