马山社区位于太平镇中心区，因聚落所在地形似一匹马而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

马山在1949年10月前后隶属新兴第三区，当时称五周乡；1955年并入上沙区公所后，改叫蚕岗乡。[1] 1958年11月设为共成公社下的马山生产大队，1968年改由上沙公社管辖，称马山大队。[1] 1983年再归上沙区，设马山乡；1989年改为太平镇的马山管理区，2000年定为马山社区居民委员会。[1]

经济[edit]

2024年的政府工作报告记述了马山一带的蓝莓基地，该基地为镇内的特色农业之一。[2] 2020年8月，马山社区列入首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单，产业为火龙果。[1]
