南阳村原为南阳乡的驻地，村下有榕树塘、下楼、松树下、崩岐、角仔寨和南阳圩等七个自然村。村中的西林古寺为普宁市文物保护单位。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1986年，村设南阳乡南阳村委会，1990年改设南阳管理区。2003年南阳乡撤销，村并入梅林镇。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

西林古寺位于南阳山中脐，始建于清康熙年间，为普宁市文物保护单位，寺内存有明代铁锂木圣筶、陨石香炉等文物。[2][3]
