西湖村是广东省揭阳市惠来县溪西镇下辖的行政村，位于镇区西北部，在龙江河中游南岸，距镇区约3.1千米，背靠狮形山丘。[1][2]

地理与人口[edit]

村现有人口5733人（未注年份）。土地面积4.2平方千米；耕地713亩由水田276亩与旱园437亩组成，另有山地2878亩。村中种植水稻、蔬菜、荔枝、龙眼等，水果种植面积600多亩。[1]

村址设在西黄村。博雅地名网在概况段称村由西詹、西黄、吉埔三个自然村组成，而在沿革段则说俗称的西湖村只包括西詹、西黄两个自然村，两说并存。[1][2]

地名与历史沿革[edit]

村名最初称菜湖，后因背靠狮形丘陵改称狮湖，为便于书写又改为西湖。[2]

明永乐年间，黄氏先祖迁来置居，全村皆姓黄，故西畔一带称西黄。1510年，詹氏从饶平迁到此地，东畔一带全为詹姓，称西詹。[1][2]

1949年后，村曾称乡，1958年至1973年并入大队，1973年2月独立设大队；1983年至1986年为乡政府，1987年至1999年为管理区，1999年改为村委会。[2]

1947年，村民有人参加潮汕人民抗征队。1948年，村成立地下武装队；同年9月，三村相继设立村政府及农会、民兵。三村均属革命老区。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

博雅地名网所列村内的文物与旅游景点有贺龙亭、仙石山和普善堂，另有历代名人的石刻、横匾与对联。仙石山的寺庙曾在1970年建邦山水闸时拆毁，1984年复建。[1]

经济与设施[edit]

村东面有大坑水库，村背后的惠来县邦山水电水利管理所可供发电。村内1971年创建的惠来县糖厂为本村的工业企业。[1]

学校方面，西湖小学与西黄小学共两所，教职工19人，学生741人在校就读。1998年，安全文明小区的称号由惠来县综治委授予该村；2019年9月，西湖村上榜广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1][2]
