村头村是广东省揭阳市惠来县溪西镇下辖的行政村，位于镇区西北部，濒临龙江河中游南岸，距镇区约2千米。村名由村中原名「仓前」一地演变而来。[1][2]

地理与人口[edit]

村现有人口1915人（未注年份），土地0.6平方千米；水田116亩、旱园236亩，二者合计耕地352亩。主要作物为水稻、蕃薯、花生和蔬菜。[1]

地名与历史沿革[edit]

明嘉靖年间（1522年至1567年），詹氏到粮仓前一带定居，因当地存粮建仓而称仓前，俗称仓头。清乾隆年间（1748年至1750年），取「仓」的潮语同音字「村」，改名村头。[2]

1948年6月村中成立地下武装队，同年9月设立村政府及农会、民兵。1949年2月，村民兵参加了解放隆江、甲子、惠城的战斗。[1]

1949年后村中办过初级社、高级社；1958年至1983年并入大队，1983年至1986年为村头乡政府，1987年至1999年为村头管理区，1999年改为村委会。[2]

经济与设施[edit]

村中草砖手工业较为兴盛，村民多在葵和公路两侧经营饮食、百货和加油站等。村中有一所学校，教职工10人，在校学生328人。[1]

荣誉[edit]

村于1998年获县综治委授予安全文明小区称号，1999年获评县文明单位。[1]
