山美村在惠来县惠城镇西部山区，离县城13公里，邻接隆江镇，属革命老区村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村庄曾用名东墩乡。村地处双过年山脉东北向西南延伸的终点山丘上，因环境美丽，雅称山美。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明万历年间（1573年至1622年）设村，严、赵、林、吴、布等十余姓先后在此围寨定居，后来他姓离去，只剩严姓一族。[1]

明清时期属惠来县龙溪都；民国至新中国成立后属隆江区；1958年划归河林公社，称山美大队。1983年改设乡政府，1987年称管区，1999年改为村委会。河林乡撤销后，山美村归惠城镇管辖。[1]
