木禾塘村属茂名市高州市平山镇，是该镇辖下的行政村[2]。村名几经改字：此地早先叫大山塘；1897年黎姓一家从泮水塘迁来定居，称福德坑；1900年陈姓自深圳迁来，种祖偿田，地名成了睦磨塘；之后以黎、陈两姓相处和睦为义，写作睦和塘，建国后又简化为木禾塘[1]。
