水美村位于彩塘镇政府驻地东侧约一千米处，村址四面环水，因水清而美得名。明代中期吴氏在此建村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初，此地属旗洋塘农会。1952年与坽头村合设水美乡，1954年设桥峰社，1958年公社化后称联合大队，1974年以村名改称水美大队；1999年起为水美村民委员会。[1]

经济[edit]

2026年3月，水美村被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1] 2021年12月，村获评「2021年广东省卫生村」。2020年至2022年，村先后入选淘宝村名单。[1]

文化[edit]

村内的少卿第为明代建筑，原为明嘉靖年间大理寺少卿吴一贯的府第，门额「少卿第」石匾系明朝状元林大钦书写。[1]

民国初村中侨胞兴建祠堂十一座。[1]
