塘东村在镇政府北面约4公里处，北与浮洋镇相隔，明代创村，村内有蔡、方、舒、陈、曾等姓氏，侨胞较多。[1][2]

地理与村落[edit]

塘东村由上蔡、下蔡、方厝、上舒、下舒、土头、陈陀、曾厝等自然村组成，因位于塘畔之东而得名。村落呈带状，多保留清代及民国时期的建筑。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村子明代创建，先祖来自福建莆田和江西晋阳，1914年以前归海阳县登隆都。[2]

1958年以主村命名为「塘东大队」，1980年改称「塘东乡」，1999年改为村民委员会。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

耕地1556亩，人口4852人。作物有水稻、甘茨与黄麻，畜牧方面饲养猪、三鸟和鱼类。[2]

手工与工副业包括抽纱、珠绣、机绣、陶瓷、竹器与毛笔，嘉信、高飞、亨达是其中规模较大的企业。2005年，村中工农业收入为8000多万元。[2]

本村属侨乡，侨居国外和港澳的侨胞约1500人，主要在东南亚，以经商为主。[2]

2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，本村先后入选淘宝村名单。[1]
