桥东街道是广东省潮州市湘桥区下辖的街道，维基百科将其列为乡镇级行政单位。[4]它位于潮州城区东面的韩江东岸，名称取自其处在广济桥以东的位置。[3]

瓷土与陶瓷产业是本街道的传统特色。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年8月，潮安县城关镇下设桥东办事处。1953年7月，办事处改名为潮州市第五办事处；1955年5月，又定名桥东街道。[2]

1958年11月，此地划入城关镇公社，改设桥东管理区；1959年7月，该管理区撤销，并入湘桥管理区。[2]1979年8月，潮州市城东公社宣告组建。[2]

1981年的改名，两处资料写法不同：博雅地名网记为1981年11月改称桥东区，维基百科的湘桥区条目则写作城东公社于1981年12月改称桥东公社。[2][5]

1984年2月改称潮州市第七街道，同年5月再改称桥东街道；1992年起隶属湘桥区。[2]

地理与产业[edit]

街道位于韩江东岸，瓷土资源丰富。辖区内的飞天燕瓷土矿，矿质属优质土，矿床分布范围1.7平方公里，已探明储量3200万吨，潮州的瓷土矿大多集中在本街道辖区内。[1]

瓷土开采与加工已有100多年，潮州陶瓷行业用的瓷泥，近半数由本街道企业提供。[1]

概况所载的产值为2006年数字：全街道工农业产值合计10.5亿元，瓷泥一项产值4.2亿元。同一概况称，街道的418家企业中有206家从事瓷泥生产，占企业总数的49.28%，该数字未注明年份。[1]

据第五次全国人口普查，2000年桥东街道人口为35557人。[1][5]按第七次全国人口普查的结果，街道的人口在湘桥区各街道乡镇中排第4位。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

韩文公祠坐落于笔架山西麓，北宋咸平二年（999年）最初建成。南宋淳熙十六年（1189年）迁至现址，1984年经修复，如今的建筑沿用广府式祠宇格局。2006年，国务院将其列为第六批全国重点文物保护单位。[6]据去哪儿网的景点页，其地址在东兴北路，属桥东社区。[7]

辖区内的刘嵩家族墓是「广东省文物保护单位」，墓群位于下津村。[8]

钴冶炼厂建筑群位于桥东下浣东新南路一带，2019年12月，它被评定为「潮州市第三批历史建筑」。[3]
