林村社区处在塘厦北部，属于穗深港经济走廊之间的区域。它是全镇面积最大、人口最多的社区，下辖27个居民小组，户籍六千余人，常住五万余人[1]。

林村公寓[edit]

林村公寓是社区由农村向城镇转型的成果。规划于2001年开始，2002年6月开工，占地15.6万平方米。公寓内有7万多平方米的湖面、1200米环湖跑道、标准游泳池和儿童游泳池。住宅分联排、多层、高层和别墅四类，规划户数近1900户，已建成住宅1875套，是东莞规模较大的农民住宅新村之一[1]。

经济与文化[edit]

改革开放后，社区修成40多公里水泥路，开办林村综合市场，规划建设4个工业园区。目前社区有企业230多家，此外还有1500多户个体工商户[1]。

社区组建了林村龙狮团，含醒狮队和女子舞龙队，在省、市比赛中多次获奖；舞蹈队和各类体育竞赛也是社区文化的一部分[1]。
