水边村地处横沥镇北端，与企石镇相接。东部快速干线与从莞高速在村中穿过，并设有出入口，是镇子对外交通的北大门之一。[1]

村域面积约4.03平方千米，分为水边、平巷、四马三个村民小组。常住人口约3万人，东莞职教城的师生就有约1.7万人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋朝末年，翁氏与黄氏先在此地落户，把这里叫作水滨围。明宣德五年（1430年），吴氏先祖德善迁入，后因谐音，地名渐写作水边。[2]

1953年，水边与村尾一并组成尾边乡；1958年起为水边生产大队。同一年，大朗松木山水库的移民在光头庙一带落户，1959年另组宝陂生产队。[2]

文化[edit]

「貔貅舞」被列入「东莞首批非物质文化遗产保护名录」，村里还在松山湖横沥实验学校设了传承基地。[1]

自1986年起，村里每年农历九月初十举办老人会活动，由村组集体与爱心企业筹资，为老人派发礼品并共聚用餐。[1]
