下垌村属阳西县塘口镇，为村庄类行政村。2021年9月，该村番薯种植入选广东省第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。[1]

地名由来[edit]

相传黄茅垌分为上下两垌，村委会设在下垌，故名下垌。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年11月，下垌行政村设立，初属十五区下垌乡，1956年归塘口区。1958年5月转入塘口乡，同年12月改隶织篢人民公社；1959年组成下垌生产大队，同年10月又归塘口人民公社。[2]

1983年复设下垌乡，1987年改称村委会，1988年阳西建县后隶属阳西县塘口镇。1989年9月改为管理区，1999年9月重新设为村委会。[2]
