牛南村属阳西县塘口镇，是一个山区村庄。[1]
地名由来[edit]
当地属山区，草地多，解放后村民大力养牛，村名因此定为牛南。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
牛南乡在1949年10月前后设立，隶属阳江县六区；1953年隶十五区牛南乡，1956年归塘口区。1958年5月入塘口乡，同年11月进入大跃进人民公社，12月改属织篢人民公社。1959年组成牛南生产大队，同年10月划入塘口人民公社。[2]
1967年称牛南革命委员会，1980年转为生产大队管委会，1983年设牛南乡。1987年2月设村委会，1988年归阳西县塘口镇；1989年9月改为管理区，1999年9月复设村委会。[2]
2021年12月，高木根村、高田村、神景村、荷木迳村入选「2021年度阳江市卫生村」；2019年9月，本村列为「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]
