水西村是河源市和平县古寨镇下辖的行政村。村名的由来是：此地是和平少有的大片良田之一，鱼潭江自东北向西流去，因而得名。[1]抗日战争时期，村里的林镜秋等人组织过抗日自卫队；村中还留有林镜秋、林启连的故居和一座清代古建筑。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

中华人民共和国成立后，水西先后成立过初级社和高级社。1957年，水西洞一带并为一个永患大队，归入古寨人民公社。1966年，这个大队拆分为河东和水西两个大队；此后曾设管理区。1999年撤销管理区，改设水西村村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]

人物[edit]

林镜秋（1914年生，1998年9月卒）是国画家。抗战爆发的1937年，他与肖逸臣、陈兰台等人在水西村设立青年同志会、开设夜校，还参加了抗日武装自卫，在古寨的一支自卫大队里担任副职。新中国成立后，他在中共和平县委与县政府任职，出任过书记、县长。[3]其故居位于水西村社下自然村。[1]

林启连是水西大队下园村人，烈士，1945年12月牺牲。百度百科称他生于1917年6月，博雅地名网作1919年1月。[2]他的故居位于水西村。[1]

文物[edit]

岑江田龙渤海堂位于水西村，建于清代，列入河源市文物保护单位，批次为第四批。[1]
