河坝村是元善镇下辖的行政村，村名与洪水和堤坝有关。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

相传村中有一条自东向西的大河，洪水频发，南北两侧的小溪被冲刷后形成天然堤坝，村因此名河坝。[1]

民国年间，河坝与隆街境内的双岭共同组成双岭乡。建国后该地改归惠化公社，下设河坝办事处；1999年才成为河坝村。[1]

2023年广东省卫生村中有河坝村，于2024年3月命名。[1]
