据博雅地名网，村名因村址位于墟郊一带而得。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建制的变化是：1949年建立铁场村，1957年改为铁场管理区，1958年为铁场大队；1983年改设铁场乡，1986年设村委会，1989年又改为管理区，1999年重新设立村委会，沿用至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，村入选2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1] 2021年4月，村获评「「2020年度龙川县文明村镇」」。[1] 2024年3月，村被评为2023年度广东省卫生村。[1]
