中心村是义都镇下辖的行政村。据地名资料，村名是因所在地在全镇里较早富裕起来、条件较好而得。2004年，桐畲村委会并入了它。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前，这里属义都乡，已称中心村。义都公社时期（1958年）村里设义都大队，义都区成立后（1983年）改称义都乡。后来先设村委会（1987年），再改称中心管理区（1989年），1999年又设村委会。到2004年，经龙川县人民政府批准，桐畲村委会并入中心村委会。[1]

桐畲在镇的旅游介绍中以“桐畲竹乡”之名出现。[2]

中心村在2019年被列入广东省卫生村名录，时间是10月。[1]
