古竹社区是紫金县古竹镇政府驻地所在的居民社区，城乡分类属镇中心区。[1]

地名与沿革[edit]

社区名与镇名相同。古竹原叫苦竹，传说东江岸边曾长着许多苦竹，后来音转为古竹。[1]

此地先是1958年成立的古竹公社居民大队，1966至1983年称居民大队革委会；1983年起为古竹镇人民政府（属古竹区），1987年改作古竹镇居委会，名称延续至今。[1]

荣誉与旧址[edit]

2019年9月，古竹社区在「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单中。[1]

东江第一次党代会会址在古竹居委会的上联新楼。抗战初期，惠宝工委书记曾生派黎孟持从坪山回古竹，重建党组织，推动抗日救亡。[1]
