历史沿革[edit]

1997年，机关区、硫铁矿与红岭林场三处合并，组成西南居委会。2002年，该居委会改称社区，名称延续至今。[1]

名称由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，社区名取自辖区内西山、南山两村，各取一字而成。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月公布的名单中，西南社区位列2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位之一。[1]
