东林村在陆丰市甲东镇半岛中部，面积约7平方千米，辖2个村民小组，700多户，距镇政府7千米，建于明嘉靖四十四年（1566年）。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

土地改革时，东林、大茂、后洪、外山四村合设东林乡，当时在第五区（甲子区），1953年转入第八区（两城区）。1958年东林大队扩到外山、后洪、乌石美、前乡，次年外山、后洪、乌石美又划出。1983年称东林乡，属甲东区；1987年改村委会，隶甲东镇；1994年称管理区，1999年复称村委会。2013年，村委会一分为二，外山另设村委会。[1][2]

经济[edit]

村以农业为主，缺耕地和水源。村里经村民集资，修了约1000米长的洪坝，整修了机耕路和农田水沟；在中山市古镇的帮扶下新建了一座市场，解决村民上市交易的问题。[1]

荣誉[edit]

东林村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」（2019年9月公布）；又名列2024年3月命名的「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]
