历史沿革[edit]
明熹宗天启年间，郭姓先人从潮阳迁来建村。新中国成立后属第八区（两城区）东林乡；1958年从东林大队分出，设大茂大队，归甲东公社；1983年称大茂乡；1987年改村委会，隶甲东镇；1994年称管理区，1999年复称村委会。[1]
经济[edit]
村委会承包虾池五百多亩，科学养殖对虾和青蟹。[1]百度百科还提到生蚝养殖基地，首期投产约300亩。[2]
荣誉[edit]
大茂村获「2022年广东省卫生村」称号，由广东省爱卫会于2023年5月授予。[1]
