淡水村在城东街道南部，北接炎围村，以虾、蟹塘养殖为主业。[1]

村内共6个自然村：一至四村，加上墩头和下美厂。户籍约8000人，常住的有4000多人。水塭共252个，面积3000多亩，所养虾、蟹有名。村里还推进厕所革命、危房改造和改圈改厨。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明嘉靖年间，李、刘、魏等姓氏来到这里安居。1949年有了淡水村的建制，1962年成为乌坎公社的淡水大队，1972年按地形重划后转属炎龙公社；1979年叫城东镇淡水乡，1988年改为淡水村委会，1999年起称村民委员会。2021年12月获2021年广东省卫生村称号。[2]
