下社村在水唇镇西北部，离镇政府约2公里，离县城约8公里，共6个自然村：下窝、下屋、新村、新屋、上楼和黄屋輋。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

下社原属黄塘大队，1962年分出成大队。后来的称呼依次为乡政府（1984年3月）、村委会（1986年）、管理区（1990年），1999年起是下社村民委员会。[3]

人口与经济[edit]

镇政府新介绍称面积5平方千米，351户2024人，常住800多人；较早的介绍是258户1800多人，耕地约470亩、山地约3800亩。[1][2]村在丘陵地带，山上种美国松和速生桉，田里种水稻、花生。[2][3]

村获得过的称号包括全省民主法治示范村、广东省卫生村，村党组织也被汕尾市评为“五个好”。[2]
