护硁村地处陆河、揭西、普宁三地的交界，村委会在陆五公路（今国道G235线）旁，是革命老区村。[1][2]镇政府网站称它面积约12.85平方千米，共8个自然村：中坑尾、黄布寨、岭下、下陂、夫塘、田心坝、硁头和枫林。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立后先设护硁乡，1958年成立护硁大队；此后依次为护硁乡人民政府（1984年3月）、村委会（1986年）和管理区（1990年）。[3]博雅地名网在此处称1999年又改名“埔楼村民委员会”，与上下文不符，未采用。[3]
人口与经济[edit]
镇政府的新介绍记有1374户6810人；较早的介绍称总人口6000多人，其中贫困户184户523人。[1][2]村里在南进的石示一带建了水电站，装机6000多千瓦，山上种速生桉，水田种水稻、花生；村内办有小学两所、中学一所。[2]
2021年9月，护硁村以青梅入选第二批「广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」；2019年9月列入2018年「广东省‘民主法治示范村（社区）’创建单位」。[3]
