香洲街道是广东省汕尾市城区所辖的街道，处在汕尾市区的核心，北面靠山、南面临海，市、区两级党政机关都设在辖区内。辖区约20.8平方千米，东邻东涌镇和凤山街道，南接新港街道，西与马宫街道相连，北以红草镇为界。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

这一带早先是海丰县汕尾镇的东西两郊。1956年两郊从镇里划出，组成东联乡，1957年更名香洲乡。其后建制反复：1958年编入汕尾公社；1961年另立香洲公社；1963年归汕尾镇，1964年再划出，1983年又并入。[1][4]

城区于1988年设置。1989年2月汕尾镇被撤销，镇域分为凤山、香洲、新港三个街道，香洲街道随之成立；城区政府网站转载的概况则写作1989年5月建立，前身是香洲公社。街道得名于辖区内的香洲头村。[1][2]

行政区划[edit]

街道辖有新区、中区、园林、新瑶、城南、东兴、新城、城西、后径、兴祥、新兴、西兴、新楼、盐仕等社区，以及西洋村、梧桐村两个行政村。社区的数目各处写法不一：城区政府网站作14个社区、2个村，百度百科作12个社区、2个村。[3][4][5]

据概况页所载2006年的数字，街道工农业总产值约13.5亿元，其中工业约13.1亿元；全年中小企业410家，规模以上的8家。服装、纺织、制鞋、水产品加工、石材与金属加工是当时的支柱行业。种植业以水稻、番薯为主，另有蔬菜、花生、豆类，山地栽荔枝、龙眼和芒果；该年粮食播种2564亩，水果2200亩，蔬菜800亩，渔业产量607吨。街道还建有水产品深加工和农副产品加工两个工业园区。[2]

文化教育[edit]

辖区之内设有市属党校和市职业技术学院，中学有林伟华中学、区属新城中学，另有实验小学等。2006年，街道内办学的有：初中1所，九年一贯制学校2所，小学18所（公立、私立各9所），幼儿园14所；中小学在校生共15284人。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

坎下城在城西社区，是一座明代海防城池。1995年5月先列为城区一级的文保单位，到2008年11月18日升入第五批省级文物保护单位。[6][7]

城区政府网站提到，埔上墩一带保留着新石器时代的遗迹；游览处有关帝庙、琉璃径岭古官道和海边沙滩，可供休闲的有奎山、大鹏山和沙滩三处公园，梧桐的农家乐，西洋的水上乐园。[8][9]

第七次全国人口普查（2020年11月1日）登记的常住人口为12.2万余人（122133人），人口数在城区的街道和镇里居第一。[1][4]
