历史沿革[edit]
径心一带约在清光绪三十四年（1908年）开始设治安局，民国九年（1920年）设区署。1949年5月成立区人民政府，1950年为兴宁第九区，1951年改为第十三区，1958年并入径心公社。[3]
1961年从径心公社分出径南公社，因位于径心之南而得名。1983年11月起改设区公所，辖境分属径心、径南两个区公所；1987年6月分属径南乡与径心镇；1993年9月乡改为镇，径南与径心两镇并立。省政府批准后，径心镇在2004年11月被撤销，辖区并给径南镇。[1][3]
地理环境[edit]
镇域面积135.89平方千米，东邻梅县区的荷泗、水车、南口等镇，西与永和镇相接，南为新圩镇，北为石马镇，距兴宁市区26公里，205国道穿过境内。气候属亚热带季风气候。[1][2][4]
人口民族[edit]
2017年末常住人口23604人；2020年第七次全国人口普查，全镇1.75万人，在兴宁市各街道乡镇中居第19位。[1][2]
经济[edit]
农业以茶叶、水果和速生林为主。黄蜂窝茶场和宝山茶叶发展有限公司是两家主要的茶叶企业；博雅地名网转载的镇概况（数据止于2004年末）记茶园约5170亩，另有以马占相思为主的速生丰产林。径南三华李2020年种植面积1.2万亩，年产量2.5万吨。[4][6]2017年，全镇工农业生产总值达5.3亿元。[1]
2025年5月，径南镇入选广东省「百千万工程」第二批专业镇建设名单；2021年1月获2020年度广东省卫生城镇称号；此外，省乡村振兴局于2022年1月确定它为2021年度乡村治理示范乡镇创建单位。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
月形山乡村旅游区在东升村，以月形山森林公园为基础扩建，为国家3A级旅游景区。[7]星耀村的恒云楼于2022年7月升格为广东省文物保护单位。[8]梅州市文物保护单位有星耀光绍庐、星耀拙庐、星耀荆荣第、坪宫崇德围和胪声耀堃第，兴宁市县级文物保护单位有宝山村的宝善围和圩下村的明始祖讳酆幸公墓。[5]
著名人物[edit]
罗蔼其（名翙云，1868年生）是星耀村人，清末举人，所著《客方言》为客家方言专著。博雅地名网记其卒于1942年，《百度百科》作1938年，两说不一。[9]
