湖塘村属梅州市五华县横陂镇，是该镇的一个行政村，位于镇域东北部[1]。据博雅地名网所载，全村下设10个村民小组，登记在册416户、2408人[1]。

地名由来与历史沿革[edit]

据说村里有一处坟地，形如五只螃蟹跳进湖中，旁边又有一口特别大的鱼塘，村名由此而来。[1]

村级建制的变迁：1949年为湖塘乡，1958年建有湖塘生产大队，1983年易名为湖塘乡政府，1989年叫作湖塘管理区，1999年易名为湖塘村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • 2019年9月，湖塘村入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
