汤南镇属广东省梅州市丰顺县，在县境最南端，处潮汕平原西缘，东南与揭阳市揭东区玉湖镇相邻，西接汤西镇，北连汤坑镇。[1]镇名取自它位于县城汤坑之南。[2]全镇辖1个社区、8个行政村，镇政府驻新铺村。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，建制始于1949年10月的汤南区；1958年9月变为人民公社，1983年冬公社又改回区，1986年冬才建镇。[2]百度百科则写作：1979年仍是公社，1983年改区，1986年10月建镇。[1]

地理环境[edit]

镇地势平坦，位于汤坑平原，榕江北河从境内流过，属南亚热带海洋季风气候。[3]镇区离县城约5公里，距揭阳市区约25公里，广梅汕铁路、广梅汕高速公路、国道206线和省道225线穿过镇境。[3]面积有两种说法：百度百科作46.32平方千米，[1]博雅地名网作约52平方千米。[3]境内地热资源在县内居前列，矿产有瓷土、石料。[3]

人口民族[edit]

百度百科记2019年末户籍人口52525人；[1]博雅地名网引第七次全国人口普查结果，常住人口3.42万人，在丰顺县各乡镇中第5位。[2]当地通行潮汕话，部分居民兼通客家话和潮汕话，[1]镇被称为侨乡。[3]

种植的有荔枝、龙眼、甜玉米和甜竹笋，工业品以米面制品和饲料为主。[3]汤南菜脯是以白萝卜腌制的传统食品，2007年列入县级非物质文化遗产名录，已有500多年历史。[8]据百度百科，该镇2020年的财政总收入为2亿多元（21472.69万元）。[1]

当地的民俗项目包括潮剧、潮汕大锣鼓，以及出花园、舞金狮、跳火堆。[1]镇在体育方面获得过2000年国家体育总局授予的“全国群众体育先进单位”、2004年省体育运动委员会授予的“广东省群众体育先进单位”，以及2006年的“广东省体育先进镇”。[3]2021年1月，镇获“2020年度省卫生城镇”称号。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

种玊上围（上围古寨）在新楼村，2015年被公布为广东省文物保护单位（第八批）。[6]龙上古寨在新埔园村，相传为罗氏始祖罗安在南宋景炎年间所建，2015年被评为中国传统村落。[5]隆烟村有罗氏二十四世祖定昌公祠，始建于1928年。[2]
