棋坪村是丰顺县汤坑镇所辖的行政村之一，位于汤坑镇西面[1]。村名的来历是：本地域呈旗状，寓红旗驻立、蒸蒸日上之意，「棋」与「旗」同音，取名棋坪[2]。2004年10月撤销东联镇后改归汤坑镇管辖[3]。
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所载：1962年起叫作棋坪大队；此后1982年起叫作棋坪乡人民政府；随后1987年起叫作棋坪村民委员会；再后来1990年起叫作棋坪管理区；接着1999年起叫作棋坪村村民委员会；2004年10月东联镇建制撤销后，棋坪村民委员会划入汤坑镇。[3]
