历史沿革[edit]
社区所在的镇区地势较高，旧有一片水深如潭的湖，地名由此而来。[1] 1870年，这里是升平社堡辖下的高潭小村，归平山司巡检管理；民国时期称高潭乡，先后隶属惠阳县多祝第三区和第五区，1950年6月属多祝区（九区）。[2] 1987年3月，惠东县府函〔1987〕7号文批复改称高兴居委，1989年再改为高潭居委，2002年依粤民基〔2002〕5号文设立社区居民委员会。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
1927年11月11日，高潭圩召开近万人大会，宣告高潭区苏维埃政府成立，会前圩上两条老街改名为马克思街、列宁街。[3] 圩镇下圩埔另有高潭革命历史陈列馆，2017年在原址重建。[4]
