历史沿革[edit]
民间有「宋村名城湖镇围」的说法。据地名资料，北宋时祖先文俊公迁到这里落居，后来聚落扩成湖镇城；城外筑墙，三面环水，形似一座小镇，所以叫湖镇。[1]
据百度百科，湖镇围北宋年间开基，明初的1371年筑城，今存古建筑二百多处，格局是广府传统村落常见的梳式。[2]
清代属善政巡司署，民国属八德乡，中华人民共和国成立后属湖镇乡；1959年归新作塘公社，1990年起称湖镇村民委员会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
湖镇围在湖镇镇对面一公里多处，村口有一口四十多亩的弯月形大湖塘，围着古村落。村里原先按北斗七星的方位筑有七座土墩，墩高约十米，村人称土墩为「七星」，湖塘为「月」，合称「七星伴月」。[3]
2024年，惠州市把湖镇围的上灯习俗和湖镇大鼓列入市级非遗名录。湖镇大鼓起源于宋代民间礼仪，鼓高近2米，春节拜年、添丁上灯、婚嫁等场合敲击，配10至20面铜锣，有「千锣百鼓」之称。[2][4]
