新作塘村是湖镇镇下辖的行政村，隶属广东省惠州市博罗县；1958年湖镇一带归新作塘人民公社管辖。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

相传元代黄姓人家最先在此定居，后来汪、陈、雷、王、徐、古、叶、李等姓陆续从外地迁来。居住分散，时常受到野兽侵扰和邻近大宗族的滋扰，各姓便联合起来，称作「八围」；后来改名新作塘，取「翻身后的新生活」之意。[1]

清代属善政巡司署，民国属八德乡。中华人民共和国成立后隶属八区湖镇乡，1958年10月归新作塘人民公社，1983年11月属湖镇区，1986年设新作塘管理区，1990年起称新作塘村民委员会。[1]

经济[edit]

2020年8月，新作塘村入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，品类为蔬菜；2023年11月入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村；2022年8月又被定为「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]
