社区名来自原先在这里的一片湖泊东湖，湖区后来开发成住宅区东湖花园。[1]

东湖社区居委会成立于1993年3月。[1]

地理环境[edit]

辖区包括东湖花园一号至八号小区和东湖苑，面积约80万平方米，有住户5900多户、居民2.1万多人，博雅地名网称其是惠州市区规模最大的住宅区。[1]

文化[edit]

社区探索出由党组织、业主委员会、居委会和物业公司四方共同商议事务的管理办法。2022年1月，东湖社区被评为「惠州市2021年度绿色社区」。[1]
